Savory Bread Pudding

Ingredients
- 8 ounces slightly stale bread, torn into 2 inch pieces
- ¾ cup grated cheese, of your choice such as Swiss, cheddar, goat or combination
- ½ cup of finely chopped mixed fresh herbs, including scallions or chives
- ¼ cup chopped ham
- 3 cups whole milk
- 7 large eggs
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Butter a 9 x 12 baking dish.
- In a large bowl, toss the bread pieces with the cheese, herbs and ham.
- Spread in baking dish. In a large bowl whisk the milk, eggs, salt and pepper.
- Pour over the bread mixture.
- Bake the bread pudding in the middle of the oven for 45 minutes or until golden brown and set.
- Serve hot.
